In the Gym With Phil Heath and Mike O’Hearn

Phil and Mike have been bodybuilders for a long time. Phil’s a 7-time Mr. Olympia winner and Mike is the only American Gladiator to be on the original show and the revival nearly 20 years apart. That kind of longevity comes from being smart about developing strength and athleticism.

We captured footage of these two powerhouses training arms and dropping wisdom bombs. It’s worth a watch!

    The Titan Breakfast Burrito

    Recipe: Brisket Baked Sweet Potato

The 4th of July around these parts means brisket. Combine Texas’s favorite cut of meat with a baked sweet potato and you’ve got a dangerously delicious and easy meal. Make it even easier by having us ship the brisket and seasoning directly to your door.

    The Recipe

Prep time: 45 minutes (mostly baking the sweet potato)

    Ingredients

    • Large sweet potato
    • 1 lb brisket
    • ¼ cup ICON Tennessee Whiskey Flavor
    • 2 cups diced tomatoes (fresh if possible)
    • 1 cup water
    • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese (more to taste)
    • ¼ cup green onions (more to taste)

    Instructions

    1. Wash and dry all fresh produce.
    2. Drizzle olive oil on sweet potato, wrap tightly in aluminum foil and bake in oven for 45 minutes at 350 degrees until tender.
    3. In a large saucepan combine brisket, water, tomatoes, and ICON Tennessee Whiskey Flavor. Mix until thoroughly combined. Cook on high until simmering, then drop to medium low heat for 15 minutes.
    4. When the sweet potato is done baking, remove from foil and place on serving plate. Cut one deep slice lengthwise and slightly squeeze ends to create a hollow “canoe.”
    5. Fill sweet potato canoe with brisket mixture. Top with cheddar cheese and green onions.

4 Steps To Achieve Big Goals! By CEO, Todd Abrams

4 Steps To Achieve Big Goals! By CEO, Todd Abrams

Before you get to work, let's get your mind right. If you're not mentally strong you'll never be able to achieve your potential. Everything GREAT that you've achieved in life so far began with a single thought, a realization. The following framework will bring you clarity, allowing you to do the work and build the life that you were destined to create!

    Your Why

Before you consider what you're capable of achieving, take a moment and consider why you should. Write a list of the people, things, and experiences in your life that mean the most. Here's one of mine:

    • I love my family and will provide for them at any cost. In order to do so, I must take care of my mind, body, and spirit at the highest level.

If you were to achieve your highest calling, how would that impact the areas that you care most about? What kind of difference would you be able to make?

If your visions are based purely on some short-term desire that's disconnected from the people, things, and experiences that you care about - you will fall short. Our selfish desires change on a week-to-week basis. The vision has to be connected to something much larger than ourselves.

    Your Vision

What is a goal, and what is a vision? Why do you need both?

A goal and a vision are two different things. Imagine yourself happy and healthy with a 6-pack on the beach, enjoying life. That's a vision. Maybe not your vision... but what is your vision? Take a moment and put yourself there.

    Your Goals

Now that you have a vision, what are your goals?

A goal is not "I want a six-pack". That's a vision. A goal should be a measurable amount of work over a certain period of time that's in-line with your vision. So, good news... you want to lose weight so that you can be healthy, live a long life, and set a good example for everyone around you? Your goal should include following a diet plan and being active, daily. Here's an example:

    • I will follow the Superset city workout plan (4 week program)

    • I will drink 1 gallon of water per day (for the next 30 days)

    • I will consume 150+ grams of protein per day, and remove all processed food and sugar from my diet (for 30 days)

Notice how each goal is an ACTION that is based on my VISION. Each day that you do the ACTION, you achieve your goal. Each day that you achieve your goal, you're closer to the vision.

It's a huge relief when you embrace this, because it's no longer a mystery. You don't have to think about it! Determine the vision, set up the goals, and do the work. Success is just around the corner.

    Your Work

Now, you're ready to do the work. The plan is in place, but NOTHING will happen if you don't commit to the work. This is where routines come into play. Figure out how to fit your goals into your day with the least amount of friction possible. This is the main reason I get up and workout first thing every morning. My family is asleep, my phone is silent, and there's no distractions.

With each passing day your confidence will build, and the work will become more and more enjoyable as the light of that vision becomes brighter and brighter.

It's time, let's get to work.

Wait! Read This Before Making New Year Resolutions! By Mike O'Hearn

Wait! Read This Before Making New Year Resolutions! By Mike O'Hearn

    A Clean Slate⁣

Today, at the very beginning of a brand new decade, is the perfect day to give yourself a clean slate…by cleaning out your kitchen. Take a look through your pantry, fridge, freezer and cupboards. Chances are high that you’ll find unhealthy packaged foods that are not in line with your healthy eating goals. Get rid of it all! ⁣
Give yourself an advantage by starting 2021 with a wholesome kitchen that’s free from temptations and pitfalls. ⁣

Did you accomplish your goals this past year? (YES or NO)

If “NO” then answer these 5 Questions for insight into your failure.

⁣

    1. Were your goals clearly written down and reviewed regularly?⁣⁣

If you’re ambiguous about what you are setting off to achieve then it will never culminate in anything concrete. By writing down your goals in specific, clear terms and reviewing them regularly, you’ll be on track to achieve huge things in 2021.⁣

    2. Did you use the SMART System for defining your goals?⁣⁣

SMART Is an acronym for setting achievable goals. It stands for SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ATTAINABLE, REALISTIC and TIME BOUND. Don’t skip over this step – setting SMART goals is the difference between achieving your dreams and having yet another year slide by without any measurable results to show for it. Use the SMART filter for setting goals — and REFLECT on and REVIEW your RESULTS with regularity.⁣

    3. Did your goals align with your values?⁣

If your goal was to lose weight and to finally achieve a lean, fit, healthy body then why did you continue to glorify greasy, unhealthy food? Why did you look at exercise as a punishment to be avoided? Your value system must line up with your goals. In fitness this means having a positive attitude about exercise and healthy eating. ⁣

    4. Did you create accountability around your goals?
⁣⁣

Who did you tell about your goal to finally lose the weight and get fit? If you kept it to yourself then you missed out on a huge opportunity for accountability and support. This support is what you lean on through the tough times when jumping off the wagon seems like the only option. ⁣

Take a moment to reflect on the answers to these questions above BEFORE answering the next question.

⁣

    5. What was the root cause of your failure?
⁣

I don’t know what your specific root cause of failure was, only you do, but I can tell you confidently that if you join my program in 2021 you will blow past your failure to achieve the success that has always alluded you.

You get one shot — one life — so what are you waiting for?⁣

It’s time to expand, grow, seek, achieve.

Feel the fire — fall down, get up, shake it off and get back in the game.

2021 has the potential of being the best year yet... but it starts right now.
