    “When things slow down, I’ll start being home more, take a vacation, not be so on edge, start writing my book…”

    Sound familiar? But we’re all too busy, right? We’re running ourselves into the ground.

    Here’s the real problem: slowing down doesn’t just happen all by itself. The opposite, in fact — life keeps moving faster and we have to sprint to keep up. If we’re not careful, we’ll live our lives rushing from one thing to the next in a constant whirlwind of chaos.

    I’m afraid of missing out on the most beautiful parts of life in all that busyness.

    Luckily I’ve learned a LOT.

    Our rapid pace of life is devastating to our mental and physical health, our relationships, and our productivity. But when we make slowing down a priority, we can:

    • Focus on what’s truly important in life.
    • Stay healthy. Busyness leads to stress, chronic stress leads to poor health.
    • Be more productive. It sounds counterintuitive but rest is essential for productivity.

    The reality is that if you don’t slow down, you’ll miss out on your own life. Some of those moments and experiences will never happen to you again. 

    So SLOW DOWN. Put your phone away, look your loved ones in the eyes, and spend quality time — unrushed, undivided time — with them. Showing up and experiencing your own life is a gift for yourself and everyone around you.

    Mindset is Everything!

    Success is a climb. It’s a journey. It’s a lifelong pursuit and built with unpredictable ups and downs...Mindset is everything!!  The “experts” tell us this and it is true!!

    Your mindset is the beliefs you carry in your head about you and your abilities and this will determine how far you go in life. If you believe you are born to struggle, you will be suspicious of anything offering you any opportunity to stop struggling. You will feel completely justified in holding yourself back because your mind is okay thinking it is normal to struggle.

    You can think about success as a flowing river. The struggle part is you getting to the riverbank. Dealing with obstacles; mean people, defeat, anger, sadness and despair happens when you are walking to the river of success. When you get to the flowing river of success you have two decisions that you can make.

    First, you must decide if you are going to jump into the river or keep on fighting and struggling. This might take some people a long time to decide because they have been raised to believe that struggle was the only way to live! Habitual thinking can be hard to let go of sometimes.

    Then you jump into the river you have another decision to make 🤷‍♂️ You have to choose between the struggle of swimming upstream or allowing yourself to flow downstream to continued success in other ventures.

    Struggling upstream matches many folks learned behavior of obtaining success. Flowing downstream means you no longer need to struggle for success. You would already be in the flow.

    The biggest problem is that for many, we’re taught that this decision is a moral choice instead of a pragmatic one. We do have a choice. Swim upstream and continue to struggle or flow downstream and enjoy the ease of life.

    Not everyone is the same and all paths are open without recrimination. The real deal is that you don’t need to continue to struggle unless you want to...👈😉

    Many start their journey with pie-in-the-sky, smooth-road ideals, yet, success is rarely, if ever, that type of journey.
