Freedom Didn't Come For Free with Chef Andre Rush (@realchefrush)

Memorial Day is to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Military. It represents the blood, sweat and tears that active duty and veterans have gone through to protect our nation. Everyone shows support and honors Memorial Day in their own unique way from participating in parades, visiting memorials and cemeteries to having get-togethers with families.

As I have said, many times, cooking is what saved my life, and I use this skill on Memorial Day by providing food to military families.  Cooking is my therapy, just like it is for a lot of people, but I’m not always able to cook as I use too, which is why I’m so thankful for ICON meals.  ICON meals have been a long-time supporter of our military and veterans, which is the biggest reason I started ordering my meal prep food from them.  As a Chef, I’m very critical of food made by other people, but ICON meals has never let me down. They even make the portion size big enough for someone like me, who can eat four whole roasted chickens and do 2,222 pushups a day.

On Memorial Day and especially during these trying times, it is a great feeling to know ICON meals are doing their part to support the military, veterans and the nation. On this memorial day, we honor the men, women and service animals of the armed services who have, and still do, defend and protect our great nation with the utmost professionalism, dedication and courage.

They are your friends, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, grandmothers, and grandfathers, who put their lives on the line and for some, pay the ultimate price, to ensure our freedom. They miss graduations, birthdays, holidays, and births of their children, they are away from families for months or sometimes years, they pick up and move at a moments notice, they live in extreme conditions, train day-in and day-out and do things we can only imagine, all in the name of service. They deserve more than we, or this country, could ever repay. So today, this weekend and everyday, be thankful and grateful for your freedoms... because someone, somewhere, sacrificed themselves for you!
